Since the invention of the piston fountain pen in 1929 this technology has continuously evolved. New filling systems were invented and improved until ink cartridges made their first appearance. A lot has happened even in terms of design. In the past the Kaweco ELITE was made of ebonite, later on celluloid was used, because there were more colour and design options.

The modern ELITE is equipped with an excellently crafted acrylic body and a practical ink cartridge/converter system.
