Kawecos Geschichte
1883
Gründung der Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik durch die Herren Luce und Enßlen. Allerdings wird der Name erst 1889 im Heidelberger Adressbuch erwähnt. Es werden Federhalter aus Holz produziert und Füllhalter sowie Goldfedern von Morton aus New York importiert.
1889
The businessmen Heinrich Koch and Rudolph Weber take over the Heidelberg fountain pen factory and set up a new production facility in Handschuhsheim, right outside of Heidelberg. The products are marked with the brand names Perkeo, Omega, and Kaweco and are also stamped with the initials HF, which stand for Heidelberger Federhalterfabrik (Heidelberg fountain pen factory).
1908
The first safety fountain pen is patented by KAWECO, D.R.G.M. 224101 and is strongly advertised.
1911
Kaweco baut den Vertrieb aus mit Filialen in Berlin, Paris, Zürich und Wien sowie Vertretungen in vielen Ländern der Welt. Erste Erwähnung von Taschenfüllhaltern für Damen, Offiziere und Sportsleute. Die Geburtsstunde des Kaweco Sport.
1913
Morton supports Kaweco by helping with the setup of their own production of gold nibs and sends engineers as well as machines to Germany.
1921
Transformation into a PLC (public limited company). Kaweco employs 600 people and produces about 130,000 fountain pens annually. Lever fountain pens are now part of the production.
1930
Die wesentlich kleinere Badische Federhalterfabrik „Knust, Woringen und Grube“ (Marke Aurumia) aus Wiesloch kauft den Kaweco Firmennamen, Maschinen, Warenbestände und Patente auf. Die Marken und Modelle der Kaweco und Aurumia werden verschmolzen. Es entsteht das noch heute auf fast allen Geräten genutzte „KA WE CO“ im dreigeteilten Kreis als Kennzeichnung.
1945
During World War II, production is stopped almost completely. Several months after the end of the war, the company receives permission to resume business on October 30th, 1945. The German Shepherd becomes the new heraldic animal.
1960
Mr. Friedrich Grube Senior dies on May 5th, 1960. His son Wilhelm, his wife Liselotte and their two sons take over management. The product range is adjusted to match the modern streamlined shapes. The nibs are partially concealed.
1971
Kaweco erwirbt die Lizenz für die XX. Olympischen Spiele und bringt eine Sport Garnitur mit speziellem Schmuck. Viele Versicherungen lieben Kaweco Sport als Werbeträger.
1994
Kaweco purchases a license for the XX. Olympic Games and launches the Sport Set with a special jewelry pendant. Especially insurance companies value the Kaweco Sport as a means of advertisement.
2000
Kaweco baut unter dem Dach der h&m gutberlet gmbh selbst den weltweiten Vertrieb aus. Mit Hilfe von Länder bezogenen Distributoren werden Kaweco Produkte in vielen Ländern verkauft.
2018
The product range continuously expands. Classic design and high-quality manufacturing are still at the core of the brand’s philosophy today. Currently, Kaweco writing instruments are available in over 40 countries.
